A film crew have installed themselves in the forest to film part of Do Elephants Pray?, a feature film between story and reality.
“It is a fiction inspired by my own story, I prefer to be distant.” Evidently, Stéphanie is an invisible girl. Or, rather an enigma. In any case the film Do Elephants Pray?, part of which is filming until the 24th October in the forest of Brocéliande, describes her so.
Julie Gray (sic), 27 year old actress from Paris, plays the role of Stéphanie, called Malika. “She is a woman with a free spirit. Without attachment. She appears, disappears. On reflection the film is an invitation to travel. A moment magic to find something more profound,” she recounts at the end of last week have filmed in the region. “The inhabitants have been very welcoming”, she emphasises. “They have been understanding, during the filming walkers were respecting the silence.”
The actress plays under the direction of director and producer Paul Hills. The filming of Do Elephants Pray? also took place in London as the screenplay insisted. “It is the story of my meeting with Stéphanie”, recounts Londoner Jonnie Hurn. “I was there, sort of abused by the way life was leading me. Then there was this French girl who landed in my life and messed it all up.” Sentiments, vision of the world... Jonnie decided to share such a personal story. He is an actor, producer, screenwriter. “I play myself. In the film I am Callum Cutter, a manager of an advertising agency who finds himself accidentally in this forest”, he explains.
This beautiful tale, midway between reality and story and fleshed out with quotes from Alfred Lord Tennyson, has a big chance of pleasing those who search their own grail, providing they pose the question “Do Elephants Pray?”
